Swimming at Salt Creek

Salt Creek’s six lane, 25-yard pool adjoins a ten foot diving well with a diving board. As well as two parent supervised, training pools for children under the age of eight. Throughout our summer season, the club offers first-rate aquatic programming for children including group swim lessons, swim team, water polo team, synchronized swim team, and dive club. SCC also excels in private lessons and instruction for all ages from young to adult. Our commitment to maintaining a fun yet safe environment is carried out by American Red Cross certified managers and lifeguards, including training in CPR and First Aid.

The pool will close due to the following factors: Inclement weather: Heavy rain, thunder or lightning; Air temperature below 68 degrees; Mechanical breakdown; & other reasons as determined by pool management.

Chuck Genoar

Aquatics Director | Head Swim Coach

Chuck has been at Salt Creek nearly all his life. His parents joined the club when he was four and were members from 1993 – 2006.  After learning to swim in the pool at SCC as a child and spending many summer days running across the club grounds, he started coaching for the SCC Gators under Bay Bateman in 2004. Chuck became the Head Coach of the Salt Creek Gators in 2012, and the Director of Swimming in 2013. Chuck’s summer coaching philosophy prioritizes FUN at the pool and is rooted in fundamental technical instruction.

Chuck takes great pride in the SCC Gator culture at the pool, as well as his summer staff and coaches. You’ll often find that employees back at the pool also grew up coming to the club, just as Chuck did. Some are even his former swimmers from his early years coaching at SCC. These employees are now helping preserve our sought-after SCC Gator culture, and are personally invested in providing the same cherished experience from their childhood for the current kids and members at SCC. In addition to the member experience, Chuck pushes a proactive and preventative lifeguard philosophy at the pool, encouraging his staff to prevent unsafe and dangerous situations at the pool before they can even happen.

In addition to growing up swimming at SCC, Chuck swam competitively for Hinsdale Swim Club and was a four-year varsity swimmer at Hinsdale Central, graduating in 2007. He uses his experience from coaching more than half his lifetime and lifelong love of the water, to help swimmers learn new and improve existing swimming abilities. Chuck is also the Head Age Group Coach at Hinsdale Swim Club, a year round competitive swim club based at Hinsdale Central. At HSC, Chuck teaches kids to take their swimming to a more competitive level.
